Yes! Dreams can come true!

Hi fellow Ivy Bridge Students. My name is Amber Barfell and I am as normal as the next guy. I grew up in a small town in Wisconsin called Oshkosh Bgosh and lived there for 19 years until I couldn’t anymore. Then I moved to Miami for awhile, then off to Vegas and in that time I never really sat down to think about a career. I had no clue how to go about it and when I did I was sure I wouldn’t be accepted so I just blew it off.

That is until I met my friend Terrie. We became really close and she was on the phone with the admissions team at Ivy Bridge for a long time. At that time it peaked my interest, but not to the point that I was nosy. But when we hung out more and she would do her work while I was around, I'd see how long she stayed on the phone and that they had normal friendly conversations. I felt immediately at ease. I asked for Cameron Goodrich’s number, called him and he instantly got back to me. Everyone has been working hard to get me in and guide me through the steps and here I am, starting toward my new career Monday.

Change is already happening. It started when I first heard "you’re accepted!" I instantly became a woman of Yes! Dreams can come true! only my dream wasn't a reality and I guess it wasn’t until now that it was supposed to become mine. I am majoring in criminal justice. I really want to work with juveniles in group homes, or possibly become a probation officer. Eventually I would like to get my masters in Psychology. There is nothing more satisfying to me than being able to be both the shoulder and the ear to let people going through difficult times see that hey, all they really need is someone who listens and can give great advice.

My long time future goal is to succeed in the job field I love. Be that loving wife who cooks all the dinners and the soccer mom who does it all for her family. That’s my lifetime goal.
