Student Story: Vincent Easterly
"What I have enjoyed the most from the Ivy Bridge experience, is meeting different people from all over the world.”
My name is Vincent Easterly and I currently live in Toledo, OH. I’m 38 years old I have four daughters and one son they age ranges from 7 to 18 years old. My college experience in the past hasn’t been picture perfect but I feel that I put myself in situations that have set me up for failure. For example, enrolling in college courses at a university without having reliable transportation to get there and back, waiting to the last second to complete assignments, poor studying habits, and lack of focus. These are just some of the reasons that have kept me from earning a college degree.
The after effects of not obtaining a college education have left a part of me feeling empty. I currently work two jobs, one as a paraprofessional at an elementary school and the other as a direct care specialist for a supported living home. I’m also the assistant girls’ basketball coach for Winterfield Academy.
I have a pretty busy life that keeps me on the go most of the time and it seems that there are never enough hours in the day to accomplish everything I want to do in a timely manner. I heard about Ivy Bridge from a website and what made me decide to enroll were these particular reasons: First, the price was reasonable; Second, the support I would receive from Ivy Bridge’s representatives; Third, I could take my classes online; and finally, I would be able to walk across the stage to receive my degree.
My supporting network consists of my family and friends who are currently pursuing degrees or have a college education. I have benefited from the services at Ivy Bridge College by enhancing my skills and intelligence in the world of business. My enrollment coach and student account representative, Justin Frank and Jason Hartigan, have guided me in the right direction by making sure my financial aid and other important documents are filled out properly. My success coach Mallory Huffman has been nothing short of amazing. She has helped me stay focused, on task, and positive through the good and bad times.
What I have enjoyed the most from the Ivy Bridge experience, is meeting different people from all over the world. I get a chance to talk to other students in the threaded discussion area and respond to their posts.
After earning a college degree at lvy Bridge College my life will change for the better. Opportunities that weren’t there before will be available to me, and my children will learn that there is no age limit when it comes to getting a higher education. My plan after graduation is to enroll at the University of Toledo to further my education in business marketing. I also would like to develop a steady job market in Northwest Ohio and create opportunities for the unemployed.
Thanks to Ivy Bridge College all my dreams are coming true and I’m ready to take the next step.
