Student Story: Erin Teuton
"Looking back I never expected to still be in college at the age of 35. I was employed as a certified medical assistant for several years before meeting my husband and starting a family. Once my firstborn son arrived I decided to leave the workforce and stay at home. I do not regret a single aspect of my decision."

However, now that all my children are in school, I feel the desire to return to work and contribute financially to my family. The most effective means of doing so was to return to school and finish my degree. The completion of my degree will make me more marketable to prospective employers.
Once I decided to resume my education, I settled on online schooling. It allowed me to still be available to my kids while completing my schooling. I researched a great deal of schools before choosing Ivy Bridge, which offered the exact program I was looking for—healthcare administration. All the reviews of the college were positive, the tuition was affordable, and I liked the fact that Ivy Bridge is associated with an actual brick-and-mortar school. Additionally, my credits will transfer to other colleges, which afford me the opportunity to pursue my bachelor’s degree.
I would not have been able to make the transition back to school without the support of my family. My husband has been my rock the whole time, taking over more household responsibilities so that I can spend more time on my schoolwork. My three boys have been very understanding and celebrate along with me when I achieve a good grade. I also have the support of my mother. She has been my sounding board for my ideas and opinions when it comes to completing my assignments. I have also received a good deal of support from my success coach, Mallory Huffman. She contacts me on a weekly basis to provide positive reinforcement and encouragement—something I feel every student needs and deserves. I now consider her one of my friends.
I have had a very positive experience during my time at Ivy Bridge. I plan to finish my degree in the fall of 2012. I then intend to pursue employment at one of the three hospitals in my area. Additionally, I plan on completing my bachelor’s degree. Ivy Bridge College has provided me with the support and education that I need to complete my educational goals.
